Lego Mindstorms NXT is a robotics kit released by LEGO in 2006. It's main component is the NXT Intelligent brick, a computer in the shape of a lego brick. The kit combines these programmable bricks with electrical motors, sensors, and lego bricks to make robots.
The Mindstorms kits are also sold and used as educative tools, initialy through a cooperation between Lego company and the MIT Media Laboratory. The software LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT is linked to LABView an intuitive graphical software for programming used by scientists and mechanics around the world.
The NXT 1.0 base kit, has 3 servo motors, a touch sensor, a light sensor (that can be twinked to be used as a distance sensor), a sound volume sensor, and an ultrasonic sensor for distance measuring. Other sensors or components can be bought like gyroscopes or RFID readers.
If you thought that you can do al kinds of stuff with simple lego bricks, imagine what can be done with programmable robotic lego. Want to get an idea?
All of you who can't solve a Rubik's Cube, look at this!
